Churnet Valley Community First Responder Scheme is operational and responding to medical emergencies. To do this the Responders equipment needs to be maintained, serviced and replenished as required, The schemes must be self-financing, consequently on going fund raising is a key activity for the group. We also welcome donations from local business and other community groups. It is a common misunderstanding that Community First Responder Groups are given their uniforms, an ambulance and medical equipment by their local ambulance service however we would like to emphasise that all First Responder Groups are entirely voluntary: including the raising of funds to stay operational, and without the support of grant awarding bodies, donations and the generosity of the local community, none of us would exist.
